I’m a gamer again!

The pandemic is responsible for it.

Hi everyone! I’m Emerson from Brazil and I live in São Paulo city, this is my first text on Medium and I created this profile to read texts in English because I’m studying the language (I will make mistakes!) and to write something about two passions I have which are games and sports! During the Covid-19 pandemic, I went back to playing games like never before in my entire life and that has a meaning to me, I discovered I love games! I was thinking “How many people are returning to play games during the pandemic? A lot of in my opinion.

That remember me of how I started to play games… When I was a child my parents gave me a Sega Genesis (called Mega Drive 3 in Brazil), at that time I couldn’t imagine have a videogame and when my father said to me “We are going to buy a videogame” I couldn’t imagine guys! When we arrived home I was excited and turn on the console to play and the first thing that showed to me was SONIC! Sonic The Hedgehog was my first experience with a game and the responsible to started my game's passion and I loved it, the way how he ran, that amazing blue and the game soundtrack made me a Sega Lover in 5 minutes. I spent a thousand hours played it, for sure.

I had a unique cartridge with 6 games and it had excellent games like Streets of Rage, The Revenge of Shinobi and Golden Axe, great Sega’s franchises at that time. After Sonic my favorite game was Streets of Rage, there are 3 games but the first is my favorite until today. Axel, Blaze and Adam were like my friends and believe me I play it until today. After some months I played a lot of games like Street Fighter 2, X-men, Earthworm Jim and others.

The years have passed and Playstation and Nintendo 64 arrived in the world, that time was strange to me because I never had some PS1 or Nintendo but I always played with my cousins and friends, Driver and Winning Eleven 4 were my favorites Playstation’s games and I was very good playing these games, about Nintendo’s games I liked to play Donkey Kong and Banjoo Kazooie but I didn’t play so much because I thought Playstation better than Nintendo (Sorry Nintendo’s lovers). After that I started to work and study my graduation and stayed a lot of time without games, I played sometimes with some friends but nothing like before. But something happened and the games came back to my live, my wife said to my fathers that I wanted to buy a PC gamer and they gave it on my birthday in 2019, I almost cried because I wasn’t hoping for that! After that I researched some games to play and my passion came back, my feeling if I was a teenager again and now during the pandemic I have been played excellent games like Cuphead, Hollow Knight, The Witcher, Resident Evil 7, Sonic Mania, Celeste, Control (What a game!), Ori and the Blind Forest and others.

To finish I want to show you guys the feeling around the games, because if you love games like me probably had great memories about your life and we need to enjoy it. I heard some people saying games are a loss of time and I disagree because games bring us good moments and it is the must important thing in our lives.
